When Helen Fielding first wrote Bridget Jones’s Diary, charting the life of a 30-something singleton in London in the 1990s, she introduced readers to one of the most beloved characters in modern literature. The book was published in 40 countries, sold more than 15 million copies worldwide, and spawned a best-selling sequel, Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason. The two books were turned into major blockbuster films starring Renée Zellweger, Hugh Grant and Colin Firth. With her hotly anticipated third instalment, Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, Fielding introduces us to a whole new enticing phase of Bridget’s life set in contemporary London, including the challenges of maintaining sex appeal as the years roll by and the nightmare of drunken texting, the skinny jean, the disastrous email cc, total lack of twitter followers, and TVs that need 90 buttons and three remotes to simply turn on. An uproariously funny novel of modern life, Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy is a triumphant return of our favourite Everywoman.

'No sooner had he made it clear to himself and his friends that she had hardly a good feature in her face, than he began to find it was rendered uncommonly intelligent by the beautiful expression of her dark eyes ...' When Elizabeth Bennet first meets eligible bachelor Fitzwilliam Darcy, she thinks him arrogant and conceited; he is indifferent to her good looks and lively mind. When she later discovers that Darcy has involved himself in the troubled relationship between his friend Bingley and her beloved sister Jane, she is determined to dislike him more than ever. In the sparkling comedy of manners that follows, Jane Austen shows the folly of judging by first impressions and superbly evokes the friendships, gossip and snobberies of provincial middle-class life. The Penguin English Library - 100 editions of the best fiction in English, from the eighteenth century and the very first novels to the beginning of the First World War.

Enter Olivia Joules: fearless, dazzling, independent beauty-journalist turned master-spy – a new heroine for the twenty-first century. In Miami for a face-cream launch, she spots Pierre Ferramo across a room. Dangerously charismatic and undeniably gorgeous, with impeccable taste, unimaginable wealth and exotic international homes, he seems almost too good to be true. But what if Ferramo is actually a major terrorist bent on destruction, hiding behind a smokescreen of fine wines, yachts and actresses slash models? Or is it all just a product of Olivia’s overactive imagination? From the white heat of Miami to the implants of LA, the glittering waters of the Caribbean to the deserts of Arabia, Olivia Joules pits herself against the forces of terror armed with a hatpin, razor-sharp wits and a very special underwired bra. Helen Fielding has written a contemporary and utterly unputdownable thriller de luxe. ‘A Bond-style romp. The thrills come thick and fast. Olivia is entirely successful as a heroine because she is witty, kind, entertaining, occasionally accident-prone, and has Bridget’s warm intelligence and humorous insight in spades’ Wendy Holden, Literary Review ‘Shimmers and glares with wit, sophistication and humanity. Hurrah for Fielding!’ Helen Brown, Independent on Sunday

At the time of his death in 2013, Roger Ebert was arguably the most influential writer about movies in the United States. He had been film critic for the "Chicago Sun-Times" for over 45 years, reviewing more movies than any other critic active during that time and pioneering in both television reporting and reviewing. In 1975 he was the first film critic to win the Pulitzer Prize for criticism. Among the film directors who started working at about the same time Ebert started writing for the "Sun-Times," two inspired a particularly intense devotion. One was Martin Scorsese, the subject of "Scorsese by Ebert" (published in 2008). The other was Werner Herzog--Ebert first saw one of his films at the New York Film Festival in 1968. This volume gathers together all Ebert's reviews of individual films (as well as longer pieces he wrote for "The Great Movies" series), free-wheeling interviews, and essays in which he discusses various aspects of Herzog's achievement. It also includes a longer interview/discussion with Herzog at Facet's Multimedia in 1979 ("Images at the Horizon"), which offers fascinating details about Herzog's early career. Herzog himself has contributed a Foreword in which he discusses their long relationship. As one of the readers of the manuscript noted, "'Herzog by Ebert' documents a unique and productive relationship between a filmmaker and a film critic. Anyone who watches Herzog's films will surely benefit from Ebert's insights." It will be an essential book for all who admire Herzog's (and Ebert's) work.

Save Send Delete is a debate about God between polar opposites: Mira, a poor, Catholic professor and Rand, an atheist author and celebrity. It’s based on a true story. Mira reveals gut-level emotions and her inner struggles to live fully and honestly – and to laugh – in the face of extraordinary ordeals. She shares experiences so profound, so holy, they force us to confront our beliefs in what is true and possible. Rand hears her; he understands her; he challenges her ideas; he makes her more of herself. The book is in essence a love story. What emerges from these eternal questions is not so much about God, but what faith means to us, and ultimately, what we mean to each other. The writing is exquisite. There are pages of this manuscript that I want to highlight and keep close to me on my nightstand. It is filled with wisdom from sources I don’t normally draw on: The wisdom of the Bible, the Talmud, the Vedas, Twelve Step programs, and mostly, the wisdom of Mira.
